Themed play­ground ‘Miner’

The newly designed play­ground at the Großkoschen lake­side beach is an excit­ing place where chil­dren up to the age of 12 can dis­cover the min­ing his­tory of Lusa­tia through play. Under the motto ‘Miner’, the facil­ity incor­po­rates key ele­ments of for­mer open-cast lig­nite min­ing in Lusa­tia. The high­light is a large bucket wheel exca­va­tor that can be climbed on. The offer is com­ple­mented by a con­veyor ramp with a dig­ging sta­tion, a wob­bly coal slab bridge and a slide that recre­ates the removal of the coal. The design of the site is also rem­i­nis­cent of open-cast min­ing: mounds in brown sym­bol­ise spoil heaps. The play­ground brings the struc­tural change in the region to life in a child-friendly way.
